In the Terminal type:
"defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES"
"killall Dock"
That's all there is to it.
To reverse it (go back to 3D) do the same thing except replace "YES" with "NO"

did you record this with quicktime? i heard the screen recording feature would be standard with snow leopard.
I wish... Screencast is supposed to be included with snow leopard. I can't wait. I'm using some junk "jing" program that doesn't work that well until I get SL this fall.
